Configure Additional Addresses on a VRRP Interface

Perform this procedure to configure the additional addresses for which the virtual router acts as a back up.

Before you begin

  • Assign an IPv6 address to the interface.

  • Enable routing globally.

  • Do not configure RSMLT on the VLAN.

  • To create a secondary virtual IP address on a VLAN:
    • Create primary and secondary IP addresses on the VLAN.

    • Create a VRRP instance on the VLAN.

    • Configure a primary virtual IP.

  • Change the VRF instance as required to configure additional addresses on the VRRP interface on a specific VRF instance. Not all parameters are configurable on non-default VRFs.

About this task

The first virtual IP configured on a VRRP interface is the primary virtual IP. After you create a VRRP interface, you can create secondary virtual IPs. Secondary virtual IP addresses must be in the same subnet as a Secondary IP Interface on the VLAN.
